Construction on a new $68 million community in Officer, which will bring 225 new homes to the growing suburb, has officially begun.
The first sod at the 13.63 hectare Hillstowe community was turned by the developer AVID Property Group and Gembrook MP Brad Battin on Tuesday 25 February.

AVID acquired the land for development off the Princes Highway, between Bayview and Tivendale Road, in late 2018.

AVID general manager Peter Vlitas believes the development will meet the increasing demand for housing across south-east Victoria.
“We have seen a rise in popularity across regional sites as buyers leave inner city locations to upgrade their home and lifestyle,” Mr Vlitas said.

“After years of careful planning, Hillstowe will embody country-style values and provide new homes to meet the region’s rising housing requirements, with the Beaconsfield and Officer population expected to more than double by 2036.

“We are thrilled to break ground on Hillstowe and look forward to celebrating more milestones for the development in the future.”
It’s expected that 600 residents could be housed within the new community, with the estate targeted to residents “at all stages of life”.

Gembrook MP Brad Battin said he was looking forward to welcoming the new residents to the community.
“Officer is a wonderful family friendly township that continues to rapidly grow,” he said.
“With many great schools and local sporting clubs on offer, I know the people that call Hillstowe home will enjoy being part of the greater Officer and Cardinia community.”

It’s expected the first residents of Hillstowe will settle in by June 2020, with the community anticipated to reach completion by November 2021.
